Abstract

Hasan Manzar, a literary figure of rare artistic precision, has left an indelible mark on contemporary Urdu fiction, particularly in the novel form of the 21st century. His works, such as Waba, Dhan Bakhsh ke Baitay, Habs, and Maan aur Beti, reflect the socio-cultural dynamics of not only Pakistan and India but also extend to Arab and Western civilisations. Manzar’s distinctive style blends medical terminology and unfamiliar lexicon with Urdu and English script, showcasing a fusion of disciplines and linguistic innovation. His strategic use of phonetic devices—especially the two-headed "ھ" and nasal sound "ں"—brings forth a textured narrative soundscape. Through his skilful employment of euphonious expressions and symbolic vocabulary, he transcends mere storytelling, inviting readers into multi-sensory literary experiences.
